For me, embracing my sons autism and looking at him as unique, not disabled has allowed my husband and I to see things with new eyes. Our son is extremely intelligent when it comes to computers and circuitry, he is only 6 years old and knows much more than most adults when it comes to computers. I sit and watch him in amazement and it makes me smile. Just last year, before his diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, I was always over cautious with him, not wanting him to do certain things for fear of him hurting himself or others. Now I allow him the freedom to try anything and everything and am overjoyed at the progress he has made in some areas that he had difficulties with. He's such a funny little boy who has more love inside him than I could ever imagine. He still has his bad days and sometimes loses his temper but now we know many of his triggers and work very hard to make sure they happen less and less. Things will get easier for you, you will find methods that work for your son and you will learn and grow with him. Good luck to you and god bless. MazziAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
